It’s both very sad and yet a little conveniant that Robert Sherman should die whilst I’m still in the middle of my Disney reviews. You may not know him by name but you sure as hell know his songs. The Jungle Book and Mary Poppins, two films with scores that equal or surpass the quality of the film and Sherman wrote the songs for both of them. His work will go on, even if he hasn’t and, whilst it is a great shame to lose such a brilliant talent, we will always have his lyrics in such songs as ‘I wanna be like you’ and ‘Spoonful of Sugar’ and films such as the Winnie The Pooh series, Bedknobs And Broomsticks, The Sword In The Stone, The Aristocats and The Happiest Millionaire. Sherman is immortalised in all of these but above all, in what has to be one of the most annoying songs ever, It’s a small world…Then again maybe that was his intention…We here at That Guy That Reviews Stuff offer our sincerest condolences to his wife, his children, his friends and his Co-workers in the light of this terrible loss.
